Meeting started promptly at 6:30pm

President’s Report

SY 21-22: General Activities - Most Pertinent Items

  • Book Fairs -Pending Invoice from Scholastic
  • Total Sales: $10,413
  • Invoice not received yet - waiting on our 25%

Spirit Wear Sales -Shipped 11/8, was distributed to staff & students.

  • Went home Tuesday, November 9
  • Company will not do additional printing, but let JR know if items are missing.
  • No issues, questions, or concerns regarding printing company.

Trunk or Treat

  • Weather Cancellation
  • Plan a week earlier for 2022-23 and a rain date 
  • The PTA heard your concerns
  • $ 315 was raised for Candy Donations 

Membership Vote - would like to donate a portion to purchase items for the local Food Pantry/Support a Family Holiday Dinner & Remainder will be used to purchase items for Winter Activity

  • Canned Goods/Non-Perishable - are parents who had these ready for Trunk or Treat, able to donate still, can these be sent to school for PTA collection?

One of our PHES families was put out by a devastating fire last night.

PHES PTA to support them during this time? 

More than just food - clothes, toiletries, etc.

Full $315 raised for Halloween Candy will go to the family.

PTA can support the Holiday Gram

Need someone to take the lead on this

Winter Holiday Activity - Silly Bandz Holiday Grams (Danielle to detail)

  • Display prizes somewhere in the school?
  • Per Mrs. Thompson - Video for morning announcements
  • Danielle - Create spreadsheet to track students who have and have not received grams.
  • PTA can not have classroom rosters. Create and send to teachers and administration to let them keep track.
  • Want to be sure each student receives at least one

Restaurant Spirit Nights 

  • Chick Fil A - PTA received approx. $375, which was 20% of sales
  • McDonalds - Scheduling for December.
  • Dominick's Pizza - Scheduled Monday 11/15!  Share with anyone who is interested!  Community event, good for all day.
  • Chipotle - scheduled for February (Feb 9 from 5-9pm)
  • Any ideas? New places to try?

Grade Level Tees & Staff Tees - Volunteer Signup Posted on PT Board.

Parents vs. Staff Kickball Game - Volunteer Signup Posted on PT Board tomorrow 11/11.

  • Mr Loomer wanted to do - something different and fun!
  • Kickball? Not set in stone! Open to ideas

Student Teacher Tools/Equipment - Tables Purchased for the School, need Admin signature on this (?) Grant/Hold Harmless Agreement.

November 15th-19th-American Education Week (uncertain of the format at this time (in-person/virtual) 

 

Covid outbreak in 4th grade

Despite efforts - still having students test positive

Extra protocols have been put in place 

Additional cleaning efforts

Everything happened within three days

PHES is not the only school in PH experiencing an outbreak

 

Monday, November 22nd-Report Cards will be distributed

 

Tuesday, November 23rd-Pre-Kindergarten Conferences Day- (school closed for Pre-K students)

 

Wednesday, November 24th-Elementary Conference Day-(School closed for all Elementary School students)

 

Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th-(School closed-Thanksgiving Holiday) 

 

Boundary Study Meeting

  • Only 8 people have responded to survey from PHES
  • According to two plans, PHES will loose approx 120 students with redistricting 
  • For parents who receive permissions for their children to stay, will have to provide their own transportation

During Honeygo relief, we did not receive the relief we should have.

We are still at 114% and with trailers.  Need to be below 100% capacity

PTA General Membership Meeting Minutes

 

  • Opening – Introductions
    • New Board
  • President’s Report
    • Approval of Amended By-Laws by General Membership
      • Changes: By-Laws are up on PT Board
      • Maintained required number of officers
      • Officer Terms, 2 years, this will establish continuity
      • Maintained three meetings, we have seven scheduled: no planned executive meetings
      • Required to give ten day’s notice if meeting date needs to be changed
      • Allowed/Required to have reps at Baltimore County meetings, appoint to alternatives
      • Number of members required changed from ten members to seven members to constitute a forum
      • All changes accepted and approved by members, no opposed
  • Vice President’s Report
    • Invite friends and neighbors to join PTA, 165/600 last year, broken down by families, possibly 100 families, we would love to hit 50%, currently in 70s
    • Join Facebook page and get onto the PTA Website
    • Giant A+ is gone ($800 last year), “Shoparoo”…scan receipts
    • If you know anyone who owns a small business, we are looking for sponsors for various activities
    • Other creative ideas in order to raise funds
    • Encourage grandparents and other family members to volunteer

      • Current Balance is $12,448.70

  • Administrator’s Report
    • Transportation has been very smooth
      • Car riders: parents need to have their numbers on their dashboard/windshields, all walkers this year are being dismissed to the pavilion, if parents want to create other arrangements, they can
      • If bus will be late it will be posted on Facebook and Twitter
    • Volunteer training is encouraged to be done early in the year so that it is taken care of (Back to School Night and American Ed. Week there will be time so that people can complete volunteer training)
    • Brandon (VP) is willing to help people that need assistance with Volunteer paperwork/training
    • Received the $800 from Giant Bucks, this was going to be spent on rugs but the rugs were donated/given from Balt. County; currently looking for things to purchase with the money, will update when it is decided upon
    • First Assessment is coming up, 1st-5th graders, 10/18, runs about a month, closes in November. This is an adaptive assessment, tailors itself to find the “just-right” level for students. 1st-2nd grade, the test is read to them, they will need headphones, 3rd-5th not red to them. Looking for growth and bench mark score. Where are the children compared o the average. Encourage parents to have conversations, this is a major measure of growth for the students as well as the school as a whole.
  • Faculty Representative Report
    • Spent first week of school getting to know the children, team building and creating the welcoming atmosphere
    • Spirit Wear, paper copy will be coming home soon, online sales as well
    • Shaparoo is an app, very similar to BoxTops app, you scan receipt, you upload it and it gives you a certain number of points. POINTS=DOLLARS (Shoparoo is groceries only)
    • Teacher allotment is $75; there has been discussion about going form teacher allotment to a grade allotment due to the fact that the teacher allotment doesn’t cover much and it may be more beneficial to do the grade allotment that can benefit the grade as a whole with a larger budget because not all teachers even utilize the allotment to begin with. If the teacher is not a member of the PTA they are not eligible for the allotment.

    • Fall Book Fair (9/23-9/27, Set Up 9/19, Teacher Preview 9/20, Online 9/16-9/27)
      • Online sales
      • E-Wallet is available; E-Wallet is a way for parents to give children the money electronically without the child having to bring in cash, parents allocate the max budget for the child and they cannot go over their limit
    • Back to School Night (9/24 @ 6:30pm, Family Shopping Night 6:00pm-9:00pm)
    • Spirit Wear (Online 9/23-10/18, Forms 10/7-10/18)
    • Trunk or Treat 10/25
    • Terrarium Therapy 11/12 Hive Baltimore Bistro
      • Succulent planters
      • Not exclusive to PTA, community event
      • Hive is not charging us to use the space
      • PHES makes 10% off each ticket sold
    • Holiday Shop
      • Looking for new vendors, more generic items
    • Restaurant Nights
      • Chik Fil’a, McDonald’s, Dominick’s
      • Parking is an issue; may be able to adjust times that work better
      • May be able to tailor this to certain grades on different days
      • Season’s Pizza is interested
  • Other Items
    • Looking for vendors for Teacher Appreciation Week, if you know any businesses, talk to the community to see who wants to get involved
    • If you are holding an event, you must be volunteer trained; over 50 people, you have to have crowd management training (,must be done 45 days in advance), volunteer trained, funnel everything through Brandon (VP)
    • Any flyers must go through Ms. Miller, funnel this through Brandon (VP)
